TODAYS POLITICAL RHETORIC BEFORE THE ELECTION is a disgrace to America. In the spirit of former President Eisenhower, millions spent on negative ads is a theft from the poor and hungry of the world who desperately need help. Both major parties are fierce in their character assassination toward opposing candidates. President George H.W. Bush once envisioned a kinder, gentler nation. That dream is not seen, especially at this season in politics. President Reagan was charming in his ability to get along with those of opposing viewpoints. I believe if he were alive today that he and President Obama would agree on many things. At least they would be civil to each other. After Reagan was shot, liberal Speaker of the House, Tip ONeil, visited him in the hospital. He knelt by Reagans bed and they prayed the Lords prayer together. God, please restore that admirable civility to leaders and would-be leaders today.
