TODAYS PROGRAM NOTES The club sit joint top of the league as we welcome our local rivals, Porthmadog to Harlech this morning. A great start to 2014, with impressive wins against Llangollen at home and Benllech away last Saturday has been a real positive for the club, and their is a vibrancy around the team at the moment. Training has been both impressive and very physical, and our fitness levels are extremely high. We are trying a few different things to keep the boys fresh, and next week Mr Si Strevens of Freeborne fitness, will be giving the boys a bit of a fitness session, something we hope can take us to the next level Both Bennet and I wont let our current lofty position go to the heads of the boys, and I know a number of them really see this as their first opportunity to actually achieve something in their rugby careers, so are more focused by our successes. Todays visitors, Porthmadog have endured a bit of a torrid season, not helped by the damage caused to their pitch. Their league position today wont count for anything, as with any local derby, bragging rights can give teams that extra momentum and desire. The boys will have to be on their metal today, and should expect a tough game. One of the keys to our lofty league position, has been the maturity shown by the players, when it comes to ensuring the bonus point is earned in each game. Last season, this clinical approach wasnt always evident, and ultimately cost us promotion. Im glad to say we have achieved a bonus point in each fixture to date this season, and thus, we are 9 points ahead of Menai Bridge, with an identical win/loss ratio, but our bonus point achievements see us clear of them. Llanidloes who share our lofty position have played 2 games more than us before kick off, and a win today could see us pull clear of both of our rivals. Im sure the boys will have to work hard today to keep that record intact and reach the dizzy heights their endeavours this season have deserved.
