TODAYS READING: DONT DROWN IN SHALLOW WATERS! “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.” Luke 6:43 and “No bad tree bears good fruits” Samson We once had this NRM tree we planted near our house, nurtured it for 5 years 1981-1986! We cherished the sweet good fruits it bore over 4 years 1986 to 1989 and the tree yielded enough fruits for all that lived in the house and the neighbours. After 1989 the head of the house our master took sole responsibility for looking after the tree for he thought he didn’t need us since the tree had matured and was bearing fruits for his “own children and relatives”! He thought that the children and relatives were enough to take care of the tree since it was now literally theirs! As you know children of kings of kings and the rich can only be spoon fed so they neglected the tree, the tree lost leaves , could no longer bear fruits, died but remained standing! Over the time we lived in the house, every year I thought it was one year closer before we would have to cut it down. It wasn’t that I and many other slaves didn’t like the tree. We could easily mow around it but every time I called fellow slaves and to help me push it down and claim wind had fallen it , some slaves whispered to the master and he hated me for that, put in prison and almost got killed by fellow slaves the master called his RUKAMBAS (mad dogs) that would tear me up. The tree just didn’t seem to be making it any way. It barely had any leaves on it and whenever the wind barely blew they had to pick up all kinds of broken branches. The tree was going “bad” for the slaves I left there! The only reasons the slaves didn’t push it down yet was because they had sentimental attachment to it, they had a lot of fear and the king had whispered to each of them separately and told them they will inherit the kingdom . Plus, it used to be such a beautiful tree and when the leaves turned yellow the king convinced the slave that that was a sign of the trees resurrection in order to keep them on false hope. But some slaves begun reading between lines, they saw the king grooming his wife, brother and son in line of succession but none of them in the que!, they so no more fruits coming their way since the king was appointing younger slaves to take care of the tree and one old slave told them the tree was actually dead. They started following me one by one! Many of us since moved from the house, but, honestly, I know believers who are like that tree (dead souls) and still grounded by the slave mentality. They used to have excitement in their faith. There was a time when they got motivated at just the thoughts of going to state house. They were eager to hang anyone that questioned the life of the tree or what the king was preaching! Something happened to them and now the enthusiasm is gone. I’m not saying they no longer believe, but they certainly aren’t producing much “fruit” for the tree is dead and wind is going to fell the tree any time. Are you one of “those” believers who the tree is going to fall on? One of the saddest things for me in is witnessing people who once were vibrant, blooming, growing members of society going back to depend on a dead tree. People like my brother Rubaramira Ruranga break my heart. Has your motivation for the struggle, for God’s poor masses and your fellow believers waned in recent years? Ask God to “prune” you back to vibrancy in the Kingdom of God! Ask God to give you back your favour for his glory of standing up for your rights , emancipation and transformation of society. We have sailed through high tides in the deep oceans of the struggle don’t drown as we approach the landing site: youtube/watch?v=d0EOzd9rjig. Victory is now visible! See you next Sunday? I sure a future full of hope and fruits planted in your own gardens. And while you are praying… say one for the tree! As far as I know, though dead it’s still standing and giving people the FALSE HOPE and poisoning the environment with corruption. There is no life in that tree and instead of fruits the king of kings is corrupting your souls with notes (BLOOD MONEY).
