ARC’D UP: The Quickest and Most Powerful With over 2,400 HP, the 11 metre long dragster, aptly named Arc’d Up, will be the most powerful electric car ever built. Michael Fragomeni, driver and project engineer at Top EV Racing, is planning to reach 530 km/h, or 330 mph, over the quarter mile in only 4.5 seconds, accelerating at over 7 G’s. They are aiming to hit the track late 2013, and bring the car up to speed throughout 2014. Focused on Energy Efficiency According to Michael; “By developing the most powerful electric vehicle in the world, we are forging our technologies in the field of electric propulsion, and more importantly we are innovating to optimise energy efficiency, one of the greatest challenges facing planet Earth”. The team will demonstrate the flexibility of renewable energy electricity, how it is harnessed as a source, and many alternative means of application. Laboratory on Wheels Because the Top EV dragster is a test bed, a dynamometer, for their electric driveline technology, which is subjected to extreme conditions and forces, this new development program amounts to a productive R&D initiative for Top EV Racing. This will ensure they can continue breaking World records and raise the bar at every outing. The opportunity to seek and create ever-higher pursuits in electric drag racing is an offshoot of Team Top EV’s passion for the physics involved, and their will to challenge the status quo in this arena of pistonpowered, fuel-burning combustion engines. In The Groove The first public unveiling of Arc’d Up will take place at the Perth Motorplex in Kwinana Beach, Western Australia, where it will hit the track in an initial licensing program to bring the car and driver up to speed, safely. ANDRA (Australian National Drag Racing Association), as sanctioning body, will scrutinise the licensing proceedings.
