TOPIC: LAZINESS BRINGS POVERTY. Proverbs 19:15 says, “Slothfulness cast into a deep sleep and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.” What is a Sloth? Sloth is a monkey like creature in Central and South America, the sloth has abundance of time on its hands. It is very slow that it takes 48 hrs to travel 4 miles. The Sloth majors in rest and sleep, it sleeps 15 or more hours a day, it sleeps all day and most of the night (Pro 19:15, Pro 26:14, Pro 6:9). The sloth has a peculiar way of even hanging on a tree. It hangs on a tree with its head down and because of that, the sloth sees things upside down. Its perspective of life is different and turned upside down and the opposite of others. Be a balanced Christian (Isaiah 28:16). 10 SYMPTOMS OF LAZINESS 1. Rationalizing things and makes excuses (Pro 26:16). 2. Makes Soft Choices Without Exerting Effort (Pro 6:10-11). 3. Disregards The Importance Of Time And Seasons (Pro 20:4, Psalm 90:12). 4. Fails To Complete Tasks and Procrastinates (Eccl. 10:18). a. If you need to do something, do not procrastinate, do it now 5. Lives in wishful thinking. Always day dreaming about wants (Pro 21:25, Pro 21:26). 6. Brings pain and damage to employers, unproductive and makes silly mistakes(Pro 18:19). a. Those who embrace slothfulness as an attitude are unproductive and they make silly mistakes which adversely affect them. 7. Arrogance (Prov. 26:16). 8. Ignorant and Irresponsible (Foolishness) (Prov. 24:30 - 31). 9. Painful barrier to Achievement (Prov. 15:19). 10. Struggles with self induced fear. (Pro 22:13). a. The lazy man is always afraid of things that are non-existent (Irrational fears) and so are unproductive. Check the arm less lady (Jessica Cox) •No hands but has learnt to drive a car. •No hands but can fight Karate, with both your legs and hands do you exercise? •No hands but has learnt to open airplane fuselage with leg. You have no excuse. •Learnt to use toes to do make-up and write. •Learnt to swim without hands but back and legs. Don’t forget your covenant connectors (Psa. 127:1). Hard work will not just give you wealth (Hag. 1:3-11).
