TOPIC: ROLL CALL, HOW MANY ARE WILLING TO PAY THE PRICE FOR BEING A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST (PART 2) One of the hardest things to accept when we are doing our best to follow Christ is to keep in mind that many will reject and even persecute us but only for his sake. So often, we spend a lot of time pleasing our family and friends and not enough time (if any) pleasing the Lord our God. This is why before we call ourselves being like Christ, we must first give up the need or desire to please man. Jesus told us himself that no man can serve two masters and basically what hes trying to tell us is that we cant serve him and mankind. Believe it or not, many folks please man so bad that they deny their relationship with Christ publicly and not just with words but actions also. These are the ones who have obviously forgotten that Christ also said, Those who deny me before man, I will deny before my father in heaven. I dont know about any of you but I really would hate to have my Lord and savior who made the ultimate sacrifice for me deny me because Im too busy playing up to people who wouldnt sacrifice fifty cents for me. If we are to really follow Christ whole heartedly, we must not care what others think or say of us, & stop trying to defend ourselves while following him because Jesus said that we who follow him will be persecuted not for our sake but his and he also said those who are persecuted for his sake shall be blessed. Now, persecuted dont just mean to be killed but it could also mean to be ridiculed, teased, mocked, & etc. But, just think, the end reward is to be with Jesus forever in a mansion with your individual name on it. What a price to pay but when you think about it, its so worth it.
