TORNADO RECON AND PURSUIT TEAM FORECAST SUMMARY Lead Forecaster, David Saurer A powerful cold Arctic front extending from the Great Lakes going Southeastward to the Southern Plains is moving Eastward as we speak to the Eastern Seaboard and over parts of the Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday PM. The cold Arctic high pressure over Western Canada will begin to dig Southward over the Central and Northern Plains by Wednesday as well. The system is producing light to moderate snowfall across the Upper Great Lakes at least through this evening. Light snowfall will continue then over parts of the Upper Great Lakes through Wednesday PM. Rainfall will develop along the boundary from the Great Lakes Southward to the Lower Mississippi Valley and will continue Eastward into the Central Appalachians and Lower Mississippi Valley by Wednesday AM, ending by Wednesday PM. It will enter into the Northeast on Wednesday AM and ending late Wednesday PM. Additionally, showers and storms will develop across parts of the Western Gulf Coast for this morning and moving to the Lower Mississippi Valley by this evening. The stability of the air mass will continue to increase during the day on Wednesday with showers and storms changing over to mainly rainfall along the Western Gulf Coast. No severe weather is expected. An Upslope flow associated with the high pressure ridge across the Northeastern Rockies will aid in producing some light snowfall over parts of the Central and Northern Rockies through Wednesday PM. Low pressure off the Southeastern states will begin to track Northeastward, gradually moving farther out into the Atlantic by Wednesday. This system is producting showers and thunderstorms along parts of the Southeastern Coastal sections and into the Southern Mid-Atlantic overnight into Wednesday AM. By Wednesday PM, a new weather system will approach the West Coast bringing light to moderate rainfall to parts of Northern California and Southwestern Oregon. We will continue to monitor this situation in the next 48 hours.
