TOTD: Hidden Things vs. Revealed Things Text: Deuteronomy 29:29, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.” Life is filled with gross inconsistencies. One day all is well and you are riding high, the next moment an event can collapse everything that has kept you sane. Inconsistencies of life that assault us, make us wish life could be one way, one direction, and filled with what we deem as being lovely. John 15:2, “He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.” Jesus was teaching that His father prunes his children. The richest, the fullest and most fruitful lives have been strengthened by tribulation. God will use us when he has trimmed away whatever is hindering our growth. What we deem as tragedies, are actually blessings in disguise, and the actual demonstration of God’s grace and love. It’s in the pruning that God saves us. C.S. Lewis said that, “Pain is God’s megaphone to a deaf world.” Many times we wonder why bad things happen to good people. If there is no life, there is no death; if there is no death, there is no life. In text, Moses was explaining to those entering into the Promised Land that, Hidden things that you can’t understand belong to God, but things that he showed you is your business. You have everything inside of you to handle any in crisis in your life. How successful you are depends upon your initial response. Your first move is to look AT GOD. Not family members, church members, but LOOK AT GOD. (Oh God, Help me! I need you to help me right now!) Second move, is to Tap into the God that is already in you. This is an indirect move that allows you to look at yourself and know: God created you whole, God gifted you, God anointed your life, God made you a conqueror, and I can do all things. You must recall, reflect, and re-up on your experiences with God. Flashback on every deliverance and use it as a stepping stone to defeat the enemy. “If God be for me, who can be against me. “ If God did it before, I’m fortified and ready to fight the battle again. Life is ours to be lived, but when inconsistencies come don’t give in too soon. Don’t wave the white flag, find another way out find. (References Pastor Michael Walrond and Paul Fritz)
