TOURNAMENT RULES All matches shall be played according to current B.W.F. rules, unless otherwise provided for. I. PLAYERS’ ELIGEBILITY To be eligible to participate in the Tournament, the following rules shall apply: 1. Participants in the 9 Under Age group must be born in the year 2004 or later. 2. Participants in the 11Under Age group must be born in the year 2002 or later. 3. Participants in the 13 Under Age group must be born in the year 2000 or later. 4. Participants in the 15 Under Age group must be born in the year 1998 or later. 5. Participants in the 17 Under Age group must be born in the year 1996 or later. 6. Participants in the 19 Under Age group must be born in the year 1994 or later. 7. Participants in the 30 and above (40 and above) must be at least 30 (40) years old on or before the tournament dates. 8. As proof of age, participants must submit a copy of their ORIGINAL NSO birth certificate or a photocopy of their valid passport, driver’s license, SSS Id, and PRC Id. In addition to the above eligibility rules, the following also apply: 8.1 Players may enter a maximum of FOUR (4) event categories, with maximum of 2 events per day. 8.2 Participants must fill out the registration forms carefully to make sure they are eligible for their chosen event/age-group. 8.3 The Technical Committee shall only be responsible for determining if a player is eligible to enter in a particular event/age-group and shall not be responsible for transferring ineligible entries to the proper event/age-group 8.4 ONLY original NSO Birth certificate and photocopy or original passports, driver’s license, SSS Id, and PRC Id. with the corresponding copy may be submitted with the correct registration forms and payment. Only verified proof of age documents will be accepted. 8.5 All fees are non-refundable. Payments of ineligible entries are non-refundable. II. COMPETITION FORMAT All matches (except Open) will be played in 1 set race to 30 rally points system with no extension if the score reaches 29 all. 1. Players/Pairs in each category shall play in a single round robin system of tournament. 2. Matches for OPEN category will be played in 2 out of 3 sets race to 21 rally points system. 3. Each category shall be divided into several brackets depending on the number of entries. a. Eight (8) entries - Two (2) brackets with four (4) pairs each. Top two (2) teams/players in each bracket will play for SF round (A1 vs B2, A2 vs B1). Winners of the semi finals will play for the championship. b. Seven (7) entries - Two (2) brackets. Bracket A will have four(4) pairs and Bracket B will have three (3) pairs. Top two (2) teams/players in each bracket will play for SF round (A1 vs B2, A2 vs B1). Winners of the semi finals will play for the championship. c. Six (6) entries – Two (2) brackets with three (3) pairs each.Top two (2) teams/players in each bracket will play for SF round (A1 vs B2, A2 vs B1). Winners of the semi finals will play for the championship. d. Five (5) pairs – Single round robin ranking system. (champion will be determine on the teams ranking after the round robin match) e. Four (4) pairs - Single round robin ranking system. (champion will be determine on the teams ranking after the round robin match) f. In cases of participating teams/pairs are more than Eight (8), the tournament committee will formulate a method to be use depending on the specific number of entries. g. The tournament committee will be the sole judge in the placement of teams/pairs in the brackets. h. Option to dissolve category if participants fail to meet minimum of four (4) entries per category. i. The tournament committee will be the sole judge in the placement of players/pairs in the brackets. III. RESOLUTION OF TIES FOR ROUND ROBIN MATCHES In cases when teams have equal number of WINs in the rankings, then the BWF tie-break system shall apply using the tournament software. IV. SCHEDULE OF MATCHES 1. If a match is interrupted by whatever reason and play cannot be resumed within the day, it shall be re-scheduled and played at the point of interruption on a date, time and venue to be determined by the tournament committee. All game situations (players on the score sheet, score, service order, etc) prevailing at the time of interruption shall continue. 2. It is the players’ responsibility to be aware and be ready to play on their scheduled matches. 3. A match may be started earlier or later than the scheduled starting time depending on the outcome of the previous match. Rule of succession shall be applied. V. FORFEITS/DEFAULTS 1. Players/pairs loses a match by default (walk over) if they are not present or ready to play at its scheduled match. 2. A 10-minute allowance after the final call is given for the player to show up for his/her event. Failure to do so will result in default. 3. Players/pairs that defaults its matches the second time may be disqualified for the remainder of the tournament. 4. All results of any players/pairs that has been disqualified or withdraws before completing the elimination round matches shall be nullified. VII. Anything not covered by, or any departure from the rules shall be referred in writing and addressed to the Tournament Director whose decision will be final and unappealable.
