TRIBAL STEREOTYPING: Defn: These thoughts or beliefs which may or may not accurately reflect reality. I believe these phrases are common to you.... a. do not date tribe A they love money... b. do not engage someone from tribe B they have water logged pussies... c. never date from tribe C they believe in witchcraft and superstitions... Tribal stereotyping is a virus that has refused to be suppressed. Like a worm, it has clung to the veins of affection and determined who we date, who we sleep with and who we marry. Hundreds watched ‘happily ever after’ opportunities pass them just because they were indoctrinated into tribal stereotypes. It’s not uncommon to hear Okuyu woman ranting on how she can’t date Dholuo man or Kalenjin woman saying how she could pull a steeplechase run if the Gitole of a Kisii man touched her. It’s all a bunch of nonsense if you ask me- it’s pathetic. I feel blind fury, bitter resentment and a slow, seeping, horrible surge of disgust for people who continue to rapidly spread the fire of trial shenanigans. Those loudmouthed, leaden-brained, useless people who drag others down to their level of mediocrity. Humans who are the reason Africa still lags behind as a continent. If you are well educated like me but still hold the obstinate, ridiculously blinkered insistence that you can’t date someone from a specific tribe just because your ‘stinking socks’ uncle warned you not to, then you have a deficiency in IQ figures. We all know that the greatest kind of unity is achieved through intermarriage. It’s the key to ending tribalism. Even in ancient kingdoms, Kings forged alliances with other Kings by having their daughters or sons intermarry. This is how great empires came to be and we want a great nation don’t we?. It’s sad to see gutless, uninspired, creatively devoid, and romantically incompetent individuals lamenting how dry spells are killing them or how they can’t find husbands or wives yet that beautiful person from the other tribe is just there single and waiting. That person could be the dream partner but unfortunately ignorance is the bliss that prevents the kiss. Stereotyping is the reason that African romance is disintegrating before our eyes. People get rejected for the stupidest reasons, including slight differences in age, where they live or the schools they went to. But as bright Kenyans, we should refuse to swallow those assumptions that are constantly shoved down our throats. We should not allow tribalism to cloud our judgment when it comes to finding potential partners. One Love
