TRIBUTE TO A DEAR MOTHER. After a long while I remembered the elementary poem; My Mother today during the first Holy Mass. I remembered with nostalgia how my mother taught us the poem shortly after she finished from the Teachers Training College Bomadi. It was a song where the poet posed questions and provided answers-My Mother. The 1st stanza was very touching as well as others. For example, the poet asked; who sat and watch my infant eyes...and gaze upon my heavy eyes for that I shouldnt die-my mother. Wonderful song. Today in church, we sang sweet mother for all the mothers and they all danced joyfully. I think it should go beyond that. We must show a little kindness and special love to our mothers today and forever. My mother taught me how to pray. She described God as a mighty but unseen man and used the Bible aspect of Moses encounter with God to illustrate this point. I could remember when she read God telling Moses that u would die if u see me! She taught me with Jehovahs Witness childrens book; My First Book of Bible Studies. I know Gordon Philemon and Osamede Osasu would be wondering why I didnt become a Witness afterwards. Lol. I grew up with the fear of God and trusting also in him. Mummy, I remembered how u, as a teacher did odd jobs to ensure that we feed and go to school. I remembered how u fried akara along the road in those days. I remembered how u travelled to Uwheru market to buy groundnuts and pepper for sales. What can I not remember? How u borrowed money to join forces with our father to train us through the university. How u fasted and prayed whenever we are in difficulties. You have been our pillar and we appreciate. On this special occasion of mothers day, I congratulate you for living a fulfilled life. You have surrendered to the Almighty believing that he can never fail u. You have volunteered your strength to work for Jesus Christ and mankind. Nothing excites you than the things of God. You rejected yourself long ago and took the cross on your shoulders. Dont be tired mum. After rain comes sun. You have always told me that the children of the righteous shall possess the best portion. I can go on and on but I would leave the rest for another day. God Almighty! Grant the heart desires of my mother, Lady Esiso Evelyn Etaghene(LSM) in jesus name, amen. Grant her long life and good health to enjoy the fruit of her labour to the glory of your name through Christ our Lord amen.
