TRIP TO WASHINGTON - SOME MUSINGS The historical city of USA - its political capital - presented a synthesis of tradition & modernity. Had a leisurely walk along Potomac River. Could not see a single polyethene bag along its coast. We are cribbing to clan the Ganga. We may take some leaf from here. Charity begins at home - until & unless we improve our hygiene....improve our waste disposal, cant expect to clean our rivers. Traffic rules are followed by every body - even during early morning hours on empty crossings, every one waits for green signal. Even when ducks are crossing the road - traffic stops. Kept wondering whether I was in Washington or Thailand! In some places ladies are made to cover themselves in veil. Looks like the women folk here at USA have decided to take revenge for that. & since US is mighty & powerful, we also have decided to ape them.
