TRUE HOLY ORDERS AND THE OFFICE OF THE ARCHBISHOP In just a few - TopicsExpress

TRUE HOLY ORDERS AND THE OFFICE OF THE ARCHBISHOP In just a few days time Baltimore, MD will be the site of something wonderful that only happens once in a generation. Archbishop Dennis Myles Golphin, will not become an archbishop, but will in a public setting be enthroned as such. As an person of African descent, if you had asked me of the significance of this ten years ago, I would not thought it appropriate. That is because I did not know church history and that there are orders, not rankings of clergy that have been in place BEFORE the advent of Catholicism. Everything that is episcopal is not from the Roman Catholic Church, which has its own set of traditions. Amongst Charismatics (those who believe in sign gifts, ministry gifts, and spiritual gifts) who may also be from differing Protestant (non-Catholic) reformations, there are also established holy orders. I have learned that there are honors and offices that we have discounted or despised not according to legitimacy, but unfamiliarity. Archbishop Golphin has labored amongst us, quietly, unceremoniously, teaching, baptizing, nurturing our pastors, tending to our sick, consecrating others to the bishopric, ordaining pastors, financially giving, writing position papers that defend our faith, and proving that education (holding numerous doctoral degrees) is not an impediment to being approachable. I believe that there are those of you who will read this post and ask yourself if this enthronement is appropriate, or wish to know of the importance of our brother who was elected to this role of Senior Bishop to you. Please feel free to email me: pastordave2951@gmail with your questions or comment below. I will help you to best of my ability. We need to celebrate our own and support leaders who has made us proud.
