TRUSTING GOD AND WAITING PATIENTLY PAYS OFF...(Rarely are we afforded live and such clear before your very eyes evidence of the workings of God in our lives. This true story is an account of just such a happening in the life of a family in our church. May it bless you to no end!) Some two or more years back, one of the Sisters of our Fellowship really struggled, oftentimes painfully and quite tearfully, trying their very best to navigate through a marriage with a husband who, although in many respects was a decent man, was nonetheless not as committed to her Christ as she was, if he was committed at all. For those of you who are in similar situations or have been, you know how frustrating being in this situation can be. You want to honor God and you want to be faithful to your vows but when weighed against the real threat of losing your sanity and even your health, separation and or divorce no longer appears to be an objectionable out. There were so many times my wife and I and I myself had to pray with and for this particular sister, many times while her eyes were filled to overflow and her body shook uncontrollable from the shear weight of having to carry such a disheartening burden. All the while though, I sought to encourage her to hang in there; to trust God; to believe that God was just as desirous, in fact more so, to have her marriage succeed as she was and that if God was to make that happen, he needed to do so through the only avenue available to him in that marriage to do so, and that was through her. I kept trying to instill in her the truth that this was not an attack against her, but against her marriage, and that she was not so much the victim as she was her husbands soldier partner; the only one left through which victory can be won. God, I told her, needed her to be prayerful, patient and persevering so that he could complete the process of reconciliation in the life of her husband. Over the course of our personal ministry and preaching ministry to her, she was finally able to receive this truth. Things though, rather than getting better for her, actually got a tad bit worse, as they often do. She nonetheless accepted the word of God given to her through the spirit of God., TRUSTING GOD AND WAITING PATIENTLY UPON HIM! Well beloved, I am excited to report, no, I am more than excited; I am elated to report that the evidence of Gods reconciliation work in her husbands life which began months ago when he started attending church, reached a major milestone when he actually stood before the church weeping tears of repentance. It climbed a notch higher last Sunday when he came back before the church tearfully confessing Christ as his true and only Savior. Right now he is a candidate for baptism. Beloved, TRUSTING GOD & PATIENTLY waiting upon Him do pay off. Even though at times during the process, things will appear to get worse rather than get better, trust him regardless. We must understand that while God is indeed an on time God as we often say, he is a HIS-time God. Lord, asked the disciples of Jesus, Wilt thou at THIS TIME restore again the kingdom to Israel? Listen if you will, to the answer of Jesus and please be encouraged by this; It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, said Jesus, which the Father hath put in his own power. (Acts 1:6-7). Beloved, dont be so quick to give up on your marriage, nor upon your husband or upon yourself, and whatever you do, please do not give up on God. His promises are sure!! I sincerely pray that this absolute true story blesses someone!
