TRUTH ON CRIMEA: America vs Russia Population: Crimea: 2.5 million Crimean Tatars: 300 000 Language: Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar and Russian Religion: Islam (Sunni) Ethnic Group: Crimean Tatars 12%, Russian 62%, Ukrainian 23%, Belorussian, Armenian, Greek, German and Karaim 3% Perhaps due to Americas invasion of Iraq (on the false premise of the countrys possession of WMDs) Russia has made us believe they are the good guys in this crisis over their forceful acquisition of the Crimean peninsula through a Moscow backed referendum... I did a little research on the whole crisis and here is my findings. Like the statistics above shows, the indigenous people of crimea are the Tatars, although they represent only 12percent of the over 2.5million population.... The reason for their small size was because of ethnic cleansing the faced from one time soviet ruler Joseph Stalin who not only forced the Tatans to flee their land, but executed as many as he could lay his hands on... These acts led to a drop in the indigenous population while Russian settlers took over their lands... Sometime later after Stalins death, the new soviet leader gave the crimean peninsula as a gift to Ukraine which by then was a colony under the soviet leadership later in the 90s after the collapse of the soviet union (USSR) and the independence of so many countries including Ukraine, Kazakhstan (and all the stan countries) etc. crimea became an autonomous colony under the Ukrainian govt... It after the fall of the soviet union that so many indigenes of crimea (i.e. the Tatars) started returning home... But getting back home, Russian settlers had taken over their lands due to their strength in numbers.. Thus, the tatars who happen to be the indigenes of crimea became a minority in their own land... So after the fall of the last Ukrainian govt on charges of corruption, Russia saw that the new president would rather do deals with the west (USA n co) than Russia and would also not tolerate the Russian settlers in crimea, hence Russia invaded crimea, using the Russian settlers as excuse that it is protecting its citizens... It didnt end there, Russia now sponsored the so called referendum in which the crimean population which happens to be predominantly Russian settlers voted for crimea to become a Russian colony... It was atypical this point the Americans came in saying Russia was stealing someone elses land but so many people who never knew the truth felt Russia was only defending its citizen not knowing the so called citizens are occupying a land that is not theirs... Russia must be stopped... Lemme explain this whole crises using Cross River and Akwa Ibom states as example.. The indigenes of Calabar, the Cross River State capital are the Efiks... Whereas the Ibibios are the predominant tribe in Akwa Ibom state (before the Anang, Oron etc)... For those of you who do not know Calabar, youll find more Ibibios (akwa ibomites) in Calabar than the Efiks, who are the land owners and indigenes... Today, if a referendum is conducted by the population in Calabar whether Calabar should become a local government in Akwa Ibom state, chances are Calabar is favored to become a local government under Akwa ibom state thanks to the voting strength of Akwa Ibom settlers in calabar... Then after such referendum favoring placing calabar under akwa ibom, the gov of akwa ibom Goodwill Akpabio would now order his troops to invade calabar saying the population have spoken... This is what is playing out in crimea... It was so bad that former gov. Donald Duke had to remove from the cross river civil service during his tenure all akwa ibomite under its payroll so the indigenes, Efiks can be employed..
