TSE Editorial - 20-Aug-2013 :: Setting off a chain reaction : Eroding faith in Govt machinery The conceived notion that if the State machinery or its agencies cannot deliver justice, then the people have every right to launch their own course of action under the belief that they are in a sense dispensing justice. A vigilant people or a people driven by sentiments, blocking off all logical reasonings or train of thoughts ? All these and others taken together is writ large in the decision of the people to block the Imphal-Moreh route along Singjamei on NH-2, in protest against the daylight murder of a van driver on August 18. Unfortunately the Government slept over this, maybe under the impression that the angst of the people will evaporate after a good night’s sleep. Failure on all sides, is what can be seen. Failure on the part of the public that blocking roads cannot be equated with dispensing justice and failure on the part of the Government to understand the sentiments of the people.
