TTL Activities & Brochure ticket to Life, Project for Street Children in BANGLADESH Scouting for street children known as TTL scouting, through WSB/APR Ticket to Life Project started in Bangladesh in 2006 . TTL scouting is now flourishing here under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan (the then National Commissioner - Special Events) as the National Coordinator of this Project in Bangladesh. The first TTL scout unit was launched in a DIC (Drop in Centre) of an NGO at Karwan Bazar with Shaikh Tofail Hossain (the then AFC) as unit leader. Street Children in Bangladesh include abandoned, homeless, separated, orphans, urchins, unaccompanied children etc. Objectives of TTL Project.: (1) To involve street children in scouting to assist them to grow into good citizens of the country. (2) To make them aware of Child Rights, thereby enabling them to meet their rights. (3) To involve in different development activities of national program to be developed as useful and productive work force. (4) To rehabilitate them through innovative extension of scouting program. In 2007 another unit was opened at Saidabad. In Nepal workshop, the progress of these two units was highly praised and National Coordinator Dr. Md.Mozammel Haque Khan committed to open eight more units within 2008. Presently, 10 units are running in Bangladesh- 8 units in Dhaka and other 2 units in Dinajpur and Patuakhali district . In this year, it is taken an initiative to open two new units in two other cities. As it is a riverine country, We have named the TTL Scout units after the major rivers of Bangladesh. Abdul Quiyum, Scout Leader, 01725-962209, 01199-45075 In 2009, Bangladesh Scouts with its own initiative formed a “Project Directing and Monitoring Committee” which is now treated as “Group Committee”. Each TTL Unit prepares Troop Meeting Plan-52 and Country Plan according to the guideline of APR. Troop Plan and Country Plan are designed to help this most undeserved/ under privileged segment of the society to turn as useful resources. Country Plan consists of special events such as, Investiture ceremony, Scouts Own, Unit Camp, Scout Week, Observing national important days, Awareness Campaign on Child Rights, Personal Hygiene, STI/HIV//AIDS, Life skill based education, Competition on Art & cultural program, National Scout Jamboree, Education Tour, Tree Plantation, Garbage Cleaning etc. Scouting has brought a positive change in their behavior and attitude. Their life is no more meaningless to them as well as to others. The followings are some success stories :- (a) Scout Md. Faisal Hossain (Padma Unit) & Scout Papia Akter (Turag Unit)- participated in the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, Sweden in 2011; Scout Md. Mahmudul Hasan Momit (Burigonga unit) participated in the 28th APR Scout Jamboree, Taiwan in 2011; Scout Panjerul Islam Jibon (Meghna Unit) participated in the 13th Korea National Scout Jamboree, Korea in 2012. (b) Eight TTL Scout Units have participated in the 8th National Scout Jamboree, Bangladesh in 2010; Six TTL Scout Units have participated in the Exploring Scout Camp in District levels in 2010; TTL Scout Unit are participating regularly in Sub District, District and Region level program under the ‘Four Year Planning’ in 2010, 2011, 2012; Seven TTL Scout Units have participated in the 5th National Agonoree in 2013; Six TTL Scout Units have participated in the 9th National Scout Jamboree, Bangladesh in 2014; (c) As top achiever, Scout Md. Faisal Hossain (Padma Unit) and Scout Panjerul Islan Jibon (Meghna Unit) have earned the highest award of Bangladesh Scouts “President’s Scout Award” in 2012. One TTL Scout Md. Jamal Hossain was selected as “Village Chief” In the 8th National Scout Jamboree, Bangladesh in 2010. Bangladesh Scouts has prepared a “Video Documentary” on TTL activities in 2012.TTL Scouts has ‘face book’ pages linked with the website of Bangladesh Scouts and WSB/APR. Ushi Shimizu, a renowned photographer from WSB/APR snapped over the total activities of TTL Scouts in Bangladesh in 2012. National Electronic and Print Media always cover up the TTL Scout activities TTL Scouts are taking vocational training regularly on various subjects such as Seam Master/ Barber/ Photography/Beauty Parlor/ Fabric coloring/ Block & Batique/ Screen print/ Motor mechanic/Mobile Maintenance/ Refrigerator Repairer/Computer hardware maintenance/ Leather goods/ Handicrafts etc. Vocational training empowers them to develop their skill for real life struggle. They are now employed in KFC (Scout Suzan), Walton (scout Jamal) and some are self employed with their own business-scout Papia Akter runs a tailoring shop and scout Saiful has a Tea stall.
