TUBING THE DAN RIVER: Just wanted to remind all of you students who are in Winston-Salem this summer about Tubing The Dan River. Its one of the most awesome things you can do close by. Its only about 40 min from the campus and tube rental is usually only about $10 and $5 for an extra tube for your cooler. Ive had good experience with the Hillside Market with renting tubes. They will take you by bus and you float down to where you left your car. Its usually about a 2 or 2 1/2 hour float trip. By the way, the recent coal ash spill on the Dan River doesnt affect this area. Tubing takes place about 50 miles upstream from the spill.
