TURNING TO CHRIST... entails much more than a philosophical shift or a mere change in one’s lifestyle. To acknowledge Jesus as Lord means a person must reject all other gods and confess that Jesus is Lord over all. This conversion necessitates the confession of sin and a severance from all previous spiritual and moral defilements. As seen in Acts 19:19, those who came to Christ were so deeply converted that they were even known to publicly burn every pagan item in their possession, thus eliminating all opportunity for them to return to their past pagan practices. Coming to Christ is a total deliverance -- a complete, deliberate break with the past and a translation out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of God (see Colossians 1:15). -- RICK RENNER (excerpt from A Light In Darkness, Vol 2)
