TWO STANDARDS against TWO SIMILAR PROBLEMS: What China is doing to India is the same as what TN is doing to Kerala! China has built a huge dam in Brahmaputra in the upstream water bordering India that can flood several Indian border states if water is spilled from that dam or if the dam is destroyed! India is finding it as a great threat to people of India! India is demanding its share of water from Brahmaputra, but China is refusing to listen to India - it is the same attitude from TN to Kerala in the case of Mullaperiyar dam!! The people near the Chinese border live under constant fear! Just like the people in Mullaperiyar dam area! Why there are two standards - China vs India and TN vs Kerala? Why the same Govt is closing their eyes against Mullaperiyar - when Mullaperiyar has more potential to destroy more people than that tragedy from Brahmaputra! A new dam in Brahmaputra is LESS dangerous than a dilapidated dam in Kerala Border! If we take the density of population, the number of people who will be wiped out will be larger by the Mullaperiyar future tragedy! When the Bhopal tragedy occurred, thousands declared dead, and Cong helped the Union Carbide Co to save their wealth - Victims got NOTHING! This should not happen in case Mullaperiyar dam is destroyed! If every Citizen can insure their life and pay its premiums to make their life secure for their families, why not Kerala Govt / Central Govt to demand TN to pay premium for similar Life Insurance Policies against the possible victims of down stream Mullaperiyar dam if the dam is broken killing them! India Govt was afraid to deal with Union Carbide because it was an American Company! India Govt is also worried and helpless against China in the case of Brahmaputra River dam in Indian border! Chief Justices can be BLIND, but Justice SHOULD NOT BE BLIND! If these Justices are slaves of money and blind, they should not do this job as it costs the lives of people. Kerala Govt should write a petition to President of India, PM of India and raise the issue of human lives in parliament. Kerala Govt should tell the people what the State Govt would do if the dam is destroyed and hundreds of thousands of people lose their lives! Kerala Govt should make it very clear - will the Govt guarantee the lives of people? Will the Govt of Kerala or Govt of India OR Govt of TN will compensate their lives with financial help? If yes, to what extent! There should be a consensus on this issue from Kerala, TN and from the Central Govt and it should be documented and conveyed to the Parliament! If Central Govt or TN Govt is reluctant to give an answer to this issue, the Human Rights Commission should take this aspect very seriously! Why not?
