TWO WEEKS & TWO DAYS :) ... What a difference 2 weeks and 2 days make and what a superb illustration of the compassion and care we humans are capable of expressing! As you all know, Moe is now safe in the excellent care of Kenesha in Wanganui. Thanks again to the team of Katherine, Kent, Savanna, Jess and Lesley for re-homing Moe to Kenesha after his 15 years of complete neglect under prior ownership. A big thankyou to Jess friend Grant Matthews, also a photographer, who initiated the article in the Manawatu Tribune last week and to Richard Mays for his excellent piece The Story of Moe ... from Woe to Go. Since then, donations have come in steadily to clear the vet bill incurred on Day One for his choking incident. We hoped we might raise perhaps $200 to help Kenesha with this first vet bill. Donations have ranged between $5 and $150 and the total as of tonight is (TENTATIVELY, as some cheques need to clear yet) $1742.00!!! This is STAGGERING and everyone who has helped with donations of funds plus care for Moe (Bowen treatments/ dentistry / feed / turmeric supplements / GI conditioner) should be proud of the role you have played xox We are humbled, (and, to be honest, a bit choked up!) at your response to the needs of this one soulful little horse. We, Kenesha & Lesley, as admins on this page have discussed how best to use these funds. The vet bill ($435) has been paid in full. 3 new covers have been bought for Moe, 2 thick winter covers (to alternate so he always has a dry clean one on) and a lighter one for warm days. Kenesha will discuss with Moes vet the best worming programme for him as he is so emaciated, Kenesha will buy a years supply on vet advice and begin this most likely in 2 weeks when he has put on a bit more condition, dependant on vet advice. The farrier is due next week and Moe will have ongoing feed bills to continue to build him up which will be approx $40+ a week. Once I, Lesley, helped with transporting Moe to Keneshas I stayed engaged to help with this initial fundraising. It has been an outstanding success, (thanks to you all!) and Moe now has funds for the next few months plus a reserve to cover any further vet bills. At some point even this amazing total will be depleted. With Moes long-term care in mind, we invite you to continue your support with a small monthly automatic payment ($5) to a new account set up specifically for Moe, and under Keneshas governance. The account is ANZ 01-0790-0143005-99 K. CARLYLE. The funds from this initial fundraising are being transfered to this account once all deposits clear. If you wish to continue to support Moe, please set this AP up for the 1st of each month so that Kenesha knows what the monthly budget is to work with. I, personally, have been deeply moved by the events of the past 2 weeks and 2 days, how strangers have come together to help this one horse ... he is the lucky one, among too many lost souls, that truly has been given a second chance at love and respect. Sincere thanks to you all from Moe xoxox
