Ta-Otha School Custodian Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Principal the Custodians are responsible for the daily custodial work for the Ta-Otha School. Duties and Responsibilities These are general guidelines for this position. Each custodian is assigned specific duties depending on the areas of the school they are responsible for. Please see the attached sheet for this information. o Keep all entrances, steps and fire exits free of debris o Adhere to fire prevention practices o Sweep and mop the main hallway floors, spray buff to remove dark marks and restore floor surfaces o Sweep and mop hardwood flooring in the lunch area and atrium o Clean all marks and smudges from doors, mirrors, windows and walls, including walls around drinking fountains and light switches o Keep all corners and baseboards free of dirt, dust and excess waste at all times o Vacuum walkway mats with wet and dry vacuum, (more often when required due to weather conditions.) o Dispose of any garbage which may accumulate in utility and storage rooms o Remove and clean foot grilles and clean interior and exterior of fire hose cabinets o Follow emergency guidelines o Other duties as assigned Education, Skills, Requirements: o WHMIS Certificate or an equal combination of experience an asset o Must have reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s Licence o Fluency in Stoney an asset o Certification as a Custodian considered an asset o Patience and understanding with children as well as being a good role model o Reliable and trustworthy o Willing to learn and able to adapt to changing work needs and hours o Self-motivated and self-disciplined Interested applicants may submit their resume and / or job application form before September 6, 2013.
