Tager stafetten videre fra @basmeister... The rules: - Make a list of 10 tracks that have played an important role in your life. - Do not think too long about it, you know which ones they are. - They dont need to be big hits. They just have to have had an importance in your life. - When youre done you nominate 10 of your friends, and you tag me in your post so I can see your list. In no particular order 1 Radiohead - paranoid Android I was listening to OK Computer all the time. Paranoid Android has this bizarre video created by Swedish animator Magnus Carlsson with a guy losing his limps and crashed into the ocean floor. Very sad https://youtube/watch?v=sPLEbAVjiLA 2. Tribe called quest - Can i kick it The track with a simple call and response…. Can I Kick it —— yes you can….. At this time I got into the whole Native Tongues thing. De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers - jazz influenced samples etc. with my elementary school friend @jacobveedfald. https://youtube/watch?v=gtATrfNQJLU 3. New order - Blue Monday This track from 83 stil blows me away. Perfectly crafted. Hard-hitting. Still sounds fresh to this day. https://youtube/watch?v=SVkq8IEO4tc 4. Prince - When doves cry This record made a huge impact on me. Prince was mysterious, quirky and cool. Purple Rain. Drum productions out of this world - a mix of Hendrix, Sly, JB, Parliament/Funkadelic mixed together- very future sounding. At that time Prince did not sound like any other artist. Had his signature style. 5. Michael Jackson - Billie Jean King of pop - nuff said. Played on MTV non stop. https://youtube/watch?v=Zi_XLOBDo_Y 6. Goldie - innercity life At that time Drum n Bass - was the sound of the future. Breakbeats speeded up to 160-180 BPM Got really into breakbeats and club culture in general. https://youtube/watch?v=lx9-fjlh7Y4 7. Grandmaster flash - the Message https://youtube/watch?v=O4o8TeqKhgY My older brother played this to me on tape on a boombox and breakdanced to it. Remember these Yo-Yo contests at the local square in CPH where people battled while listening to Grandmaster Flash, Africa Bambaataa, Whodini, Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Beastie Boys etc. 8. Beastie boys - No sleep till brooklyn My bigger brother had this tape with Beastie Boys - Licence to ill - he bought when visiting London in elementary school in 86 3 white, Jewish guys named Michael Diamond (Mike D), Adam Yauch (MCA) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock) rapping over Rick Rubin productions. Opened my eyes to Def Jam: LL COOL, Public Enemy, Slick Rick etc and hip hop in general. https://youtube/watch?v=07Y0cy-nvAg 9. Stevie Wonder - As Remember my dad had a lot of Stevie Records incl. Songs in the Key of Life that caught my attention. I was looking at the back cover where I could read what instruments was being used on the recordings. https://youtube/watch?v=KWhMyOs0pCQ 10. Laid Back - White Horse Loved loved loved this track. It was quirky and fun. When I was younger I just loved the beat having no idea it was actually about Heroin … If you wanna ride/ dont ride the white horse Fun fact. We - Boom Clap Bachelors eventually got on the same record label “Music For Dreams” alongside Laid Back at that time. Later found out that my Dad knew Laid Backs former manager. Think they had some bears in the 80s :-) https://youtube/watch?v=I8j2ej5jqQw
