Taiwan–Vietnam relations are conducted on an unofficial level, - TopicsExpress

Taiwan–Vietnam relations are conducted on an unofficial level, as Hanoi adheres to a one-China policy and officially recognizes Communist China (PRC) only. However, this has not stopped bilateral visits and significant flows of migrants and investment capital between Taiwan and Vietnam. Taiwan has been the largest source foreign direct investment in Vietnam since 2006. However after today’s event, Vietnam should not be surprised that a lot of Taiwanese will redraw and reorganize it’s investments some where else; such as Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, ……. What happened today is a misunderstanding by Vietnamese, that took huge emotional proportions. Taiwan is not China. I’m very curious on how the Vietnamese government will react on today’s situation. Perhaps we should demand the right to raise the Taiwan flag at the entrance of our factories, to make clear; we’re Taiwanese, not Chinese. That would be a good gesture of the Vietnam government. A semi recognition, we’re not to be confused with Mainland Chinese, who caused all those troubles !!!
