Taj Hargey at it again. What an idiot. We pray as weve been commanded to pray by the one who brought the prayer to us and taught it- Prophet Muhammad (saw) - not however we (Hargey et al to be precise) wish to. The Imam of a congregational prayer which has men and women must be a man. That is what all Muslims throughout the ages have agreed upon, including the female scholars and wives of the Prophet (saw). Men and women are equal in the Eyes of Allah. But that doesnt mean we have equal responsibility on everything, nor equal roles. On certain matters men have a greater responsibility than women and likewise on certain matters women have a greater responsibility than men. Similarly, sometimes, men and women have differing roles ordained by God. Prayer is one such matter in which the role of leading a congregation (that includes men and women) must be fulfilled by a man (who fits the right criteria of course). ---------------------------------- Zhill Abd Rahman Salman Butt Ghulam Esposito Haydar Amar Alam
