Take a look at the samaritan, someone who had so little to offer, but someone whom Jesus treated with respect and dignity. Their meeting, one day, not only changed her life but the life of everyone in the town where she lived. The meeting is recorded in chapter four of the Gospel of John. Jesus is on his way from Jerusalem, in the south, to Galilee, in the north. Most Jewish avoided going through Samaria, which was right in the middle between where Jesus was coming from and where he was going to. They usually travelled east, crossed the Jordan River, and then continued north until they had gone around Samaria. Then they re-crossed the Jordan and headed on to where they were going. Jesus chose to go through Samaria.
