Take a minute or two and enjoy Gods Word today! 1 Corinthians 14:22-25 So then, tongues are for a sign not to those who believe, but to unbelievers, but prophecy is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe. 23 Therefore, if the whole church comes together at the same time and all speak with tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24 But if all prophesy, and some unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is judged by all, 25 the secret things of his heart become evident, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God, proclaiming, “God is truly among you!” Description: For a sign: The Corinthian believers may have thought that tongues signified God’s presence among His people (as in Acts 2:3). They may have also believed that a display of this gift would compel unbelievers to accept the gospel. Paul claims that it will have the opposite effect Out of your mind: The unbeliever may associate the chaos of the Corinthians’ worship gathering with the practices of the mystery cults He is convicted by all: Implies that the unbelieving visitor will become aware of his or her sins He is judged by all: Implies that the Holy Spirit will convict the unbeliever of sin, so that he or she will turn to God in repentance.
