Taking a moment to remember Joan Rivers. I was on her television program a couple times many years ago, and contrary to her tough-as-nails image, she was one of the kindest, most sensitive, and open-minded people I met in that industry. She made me and all the other guests so at ease and comfortable. Truly a sweetheart. About two years ago, I was in a restaurant in NY dining by myself as I often do when I am home, and she was sitting with a few TV executives at a table near mine to celebrate the birthday of one of those execs. I recognized her of course but had no intention of interrupting her clearly private gathering. To my surprise, she came over to my table and sat down with me. She said No way I am going to let you sit there on your own tonight. She remembered me from my appearance on her show many years earlier and insisted that I join the party! She pulled up a chair to their table and said Honey, you are my date tonight! She introduced me to all her friends there and we had a lovely time. Nothing at stake. Just good conversations. I will always remember her kindness, her endless curiosity, her bold spirit, and her unwillingness to take a backseat as a woman, and as an artist. Thank you, Joan. You were and are fabulous!
