Taking my mom for walk is the toughest mission for my dad. From - TopicsExpress

Taking my mom for walk is the toughest mission for my dad. From the morning reminder at breakfast table to the frequent phone calls he makes in between, Operation Evening Walk is a 24 hours running news at home. But the funniest part is, all these forcing, pleading and emotional blackmailing like, If you dont come with me for walk, I will never buy dry fish( Onakka meen) for you is for the two rounds they take around Ashramam ground. The two laps includes a coffee break at the corner snack stall and 20mins Rest in adventure park, where of course hot peanuts somehow finds Amma and comes to her. ;) And to wind up the walk, they stop at Supreme Bakery and buy something for us. Which of course is one big reason for me, to push her to go for evening walk. :D I always wonder why my dad keeps forcing her for walk even after realizing, this is how its going to be everyday. If I were him, I would probably tally the amount I spend on the snacks and bakery purchase and prefer smoothly avoiding the walk, and also the whole lot of talk regarding the same topic. But dad is persistent. Yesterday while at the office, I asked why he was adamant on taking mom everyday for walk, why doesnt he just go alone. He can actually get the effect of walking and save the expenses too, if he goes alone. He smiled and said, Isnt this the most beautiful part of my everyday life? To spend time with the ones I love. Money any fool can make, you just have to use your brains but it takes a heart to hold onto and love our family. I know your mom is adamant at times, and acts like a kid, but then who else other than me to put up with her tantrums. We are married darling, not business partners to think about money. I know different people have different perceptions about my dad. My dad is a Pakka businessman. He has lot of qualities which even I dislike but there is one sure thing about him, he is the best family man you will ever meet. One that grands all our wishes, however unjustified it is. One who never misses breakfast, lunch or dinner together with us. It wouldnt be an exaggeration, if I tell you, my dads reply if I ask him for the moon, in a reflex would be How much would it cost ? If it is more expensive than the money we have, just give me sometime, I will buy it for you Most relationships withers away in time because while running behind so many other things, they forget the most important one, family. Spending time with your dear ones is not just a good gesture but something essential to keep a healthy relationship. As they say, We may not have it all together, but together, we have it all... _ Sreya Vaidyan
