Taliban hit Afghan government HQ in east, kill 12 KABUL: A Taliban attack on government compound in Afghanistan early on Thursday morning has killed at least 12 people and wounded 80, Afghan officials said. The assailants first set off two massive truck bombs, followed by gunmen-led attack in the provincial capital of Ghazni. Khan Pacha Shirzad, a police commander in the city of Ghazni, said one of the truck bombs killed eight off-duty police officers who were asleep in their housing unit near the site. Health official Zia Gul Esfandi said, three policemen and one civilian were also killed in the attack. Provincial Governor Musa Khan Akbarzada said that at least 80 people were wounded, many of them as a result of shattered glass. According to Afghan officials, 13 attackers were also killed. The Taliban have reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.
