Tampa to Host AAPSM March 14-16, 2014 After almost 20 years, the AAPSM is pleased to announce that we will be presenting a 2014 standalone meeting! Under the chairmanship of Brian Fullem, DPM, the AAPSM will be hosting a sports medicine seminar at The Westin Tampa Bay. For special room rates and making your reservation, visit https://starwoodmeeting/Book/AAPSM Mark your 2014 calendars for Friday, March 14 – Sunday, March 16. Visit aapsm.org for information on meeting registration. Make plans to join one of the most outstanding sports medicine programs planned for 2014 as the AAPSM presents informative lectures and state of the art workshops along with special spring training events. Members will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle for an official ElliptiGo machine with proceeds benefiting the Robert Barnes Memorial Fund. Also join many of our AAPSM Past Presidents as we bring back the Past President’s Fireside Chat. The Awards Luncheon on Friday will highlight the presentation of the Golden Foot Award to Brooks Johnson and AAPSM Past President Matt Werd, DPM will be presented the Robert M. Barnes Distinguished Service Award. Also plan to participate in the early Saturday morning fun run and see an entirely different view of the Tampa area! Dysfunction along the kinetic chain is critical in the understanding of lower extremity injury. Movement impairment away from the site of injury may be a key component in treating an athlete’s injury. Melinda Reiner, DPM, CPT, and Brent Brookbush, MS, PES, CES, CSCS, ACSM H/FS, will present: “An Interactive Lecture/Workshop—Lower Leg Dysfunction: assessment, identifying issues along the kinetic chain, and developing treatment techniques,” on Saturday afternoon, March 15. Participants will take part in practical evaluation and development of treatment protocols as part of the workshop. Key Learning component: improve the quality of human movement and optimize mechanics to treat and prevent injury. Listed below is a tentative list of proposed lecture topics, workshops and speakers. Keep a lookout for additional details on lectures and workshops – including their objectives.
