Tara Chand continues tour of Kandi belts Directs for speedy redressal of people’s problem JAMMU, JUNE 11 – Continuing with the drive to reach out to the people and address problems at their doorsteps, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand along with a team of officers and engineers from different line departments held an extensive tour of panchayats falling under Kandi and rural belts. During the day long extensive tour, series of public rallies and grievance redressal camps were held at Dori, Dager and Saer Panchayats on Monday. Different villages falling under these panchayats were covered in the tour and people appreciated the effort of bringing the administration to the doorsteps. Superintendent of Police along with other senior officers and engineers from different line departments were present during the tour. Addressing a gathering a Dori, Mr. Tara Chand reiterated resolve of the government to meet infrastructure requirements of the rural and border areas of the state and empower people at the grass root level. “Empowered Panchayati Raj Institutuions, SKEWPY and Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) are landmark initiatives of the government to strengthen democracy, make administration accountable to people and address burgeoning problem of unemployment,” he added. He said the government is steadfast on its resolve to take the development revolution to every nook and corner of the state and ambitious projects for the purpose have been launched all across the state. With active support from the union government mega projects in road, health, power, water supply and education sectors have been launched, he added. In order to address the potable water requirements of people of the area, on the spot directions were issued to the PHE authorities to explore option of interconnecting tube wells, so that in case of failure of one source the demand can be met by sharing from other sources. Directions were also issued to strengthen the pipe network for boosting supply of potable water in the area. While reviewing pace and progress of different development works undertaken in model village project and other sectors, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the executing agencies to gear up their men and machinery for time line completion of the works, adding that time bound completion is essential for the works and no delay would be tolerated in these prestigious projects. He said Panchayat bodies can play an active role in planning, execution and keeping a tab on work quality of development projects, as local representatives have better knowledge of the demands of the people. Underscoring on the need to tap tourism potential of the area, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the area has vast potential for pilgrim tourism and the same needs to be exploited to its fullest. Dori-Dager has been declared tourist village and work is apace to develop facilities for the visiting tourists, he added. He further instructed the concerned to augment efforts so as to bring the place up on the tourist map of the state. He said Baba Mai Mal Devsthal is one of the famous religious places of the region and people from far off places come during the annual congregation. On the occasion three new link roads were sanctioned in the area adjoining the Devsthal and authorities were asked to start the projects at the earliest. Instructions were also issued to the PDD authorities for maintaining schedule of power in the area and ensure that faulty transformers get repaired or replaced at the earliest so that people of the area do not suffer due to erratic power supply. He said proper metering should also be done so as to boost power revenue collection and ensure that users are charged strictly as per consumption. Mr. Tara Chand gave a patient hearing to all the problems projected by the people of the area and were ever needed on spot instructions were also issued for the redressal. “All genuine demands would be met in a phased manner and were ever required highest level authorities would be approached for fast track redressal of the issues,” he assured.
