Tassie Jumpers on the move!! Congratulations to all the Showjumping Tasmania Hygain Feed Riders competing at the Australian Showjumping Championships in Victoria. Travel from Tasmania to the ‘Mainland’ as we Tasmanian’s call it is a voyage. Voyage in time, cost and uncertainty of health of our equine partners. Brief insight - Horses travel via the Spirit of Tasmania (freight and passenger vessel) from Devonport to Port Melbourne. Sailings need to be booked well in advance, as limited spots are available for equine transport. After quarantine checks floats/trucks are last on in the best ventilated deck. Owners are required to stay in cabin accommodation on ship and are unable to check horses during sailing. Once parked horses are checked via ship personnel from approximately 8pm till 6.30am.
