Tattoo’s Is there a worldwide paper shortage? I have to ask every now and then For folk no longer use pencils They choose to draw upon their sen Chinese, Japanese, Celtic bands Dragons, Dolphins, Angels Scribbled badly on their hands With pride their heads do swell Good looking lads and lasses Succumbing to the latest fad They assure me that it is body art I never thought that art could be so bad I know my babies birthdays Have them lodged inside my head And I can look fondly on old photographs When remembering the dead It is like an epidemic They’re going all out mob handed To be like everybody else All ‘individually’ branded Some are little phrases They say are deep in meaning So everyone’s a philosopher now? Yeah, sure, keep on dreaming I can say with some confidence Siegmund knew his children’s names Why not have a grid for noughts and crosses? Or a multitude of other games I’ve seen Yorkshire roses With the Y inked upside down I’ve even seen some on folks faces They look just like a clown I tell them they’ll one day regret it I have to have my aipence worth They just laugh and say I’m silly But I don’t resemble a smurf For the world it seems is turning blue Unsightly smudges on the eye Well this particular craze I am pleased to say Must have passed me by If beauty is only skin deep Then I am perhaps not among the blessed Who feels the need to make some statement And have it tattooed on his chest You may have guessed already That bodywork is not ‘my bag’ Go out and buy a pack of crayons For paper never does sag!!!
