Tawheed and its essential 3 parts: The first religious fundamental to which Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) called to, was Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah), which is expressed by the certification, ‘La ilaha illa Allah’ (meaning, none has the right to be worshiped except Allah). He (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) spent thirteen years in Makkah explaining the Oneness of Allah, and not calling towards any other aspect of the religion. This is because the correct belief (Aqeedah) is the foundation of Islam. Only those actions and statements that stem from the correct belief (Aqeedah) are acceptable to Allah and therefore, it is a Muslim’s duty to safeguard his Aqeedah against all defects. Basically there are 3 parts of tawheed which are given below: 1. Tawhid of Allah’s lordship(Rububiyah) 2. Tawhid of Allah’s names and attributes(Asma was sifat) 3. Tawhid of Allah’s worship(Uluhiyah) This three parts of tawheed is very essential to believe in tawheed and we have to believe firmly................. Uluhiyyah: Tawheed al-Uluhiyah is to single out Allah (in worship) through the slaves actions, which he performs in order to get closer to Allah in the manner prescribed by the Shareeah, like supplication, vow, sacrifice, hope, fear, reliance, love, reverence, and turning in contrition. This category of Tawheed was the chief object of the Dawah of all Prophets, from the first to the last of them. Allah says, And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming), Worship Allah (Alone), and avert (or keep away from) Taghoot. [Soorah an-Nahl (16): 36] Rububiyah: Tawheed ar-Rububiyah is a proof of Tawheed al-Uluhiyah and this is why Allah has basically used Tawheed ar-Rububiyah as a proof against the deniers of Tawheed, as He says, O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may become pious. Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshiped). [Soorah al-Baqarah (3):21-22] Asma was sifat: We have already mentioned that Tawheed is divided into three categories; Tawheed ar-Rububiyah, Tawheed al-Uluhiyah, and Tawheed al-Asma was-Sifaat. We have also mentioned a number of proofs for the first two categories. Now, we shall mention the proofs for the third category; Tawheed al-Asma was-Sifaat. From the proof of the Quraan are: And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do. [Soorah al-Aaraf (7): 180] In this verse, Allah has affirmed Names for Himself, and informed us that they are Husna (Most Beautiful). He has commanded us to call upon Him by saying, O Allah, O Rahman, O Raheem (the Most Merciful), O Hayy (the Living), O Qayyum (the Eternal), O Rabb al-Alameen (Lord of the two Worlds). He has warned those who deny His Names, in that they are confused from the truth because of it, either by denying the Names for Allah, or misinterpreting them by changing their correct meaning, or by other type of denial. He has promised to recompense them for their evil deeds.
