Tawny Eagle vs Steppe Eagle At the moment there are two eagles - TopicsExpress

Tawny Eagle vs Steppe Eagle At the moment there are two eagles in the Mara Naboisho Conservancy that are easily confused, but just as easy to identify; the Tawny and the Steppe. The Steppe is a migrant from Russia, as in the Russian steppes, hence the name. Size, shape, colour, etc are very similar on the two birds. The Tawny eagle on the other hand is a year round resident. To identify them, take a close look at the beak/face! On the Steppe eagle, the yellow lip line steppes passed the eye, where on the Tawny eagle, this line stop right at the eye.
