Teach for America is integral to Gov. Walkers school accountability plan, some of which passed last session, some of which is in Walkers biennial budget, and some of which is on the legislative agenda for this year. Ivy league graduates are given a few week seminar in how to teach to the (Common Core) assessments and then are hired at non-union wages and benefits at for profit charters. They typically only pull a 1 or 2 year stint in the schools before moving on to their real careers. These charters are often opened to replace failing public schools. This is a plan by BOTH PARTIES to replace experienced, dedicated teachers in our public schools with lower cost, transitory teachers. I wish both parties would wake up and figure out that schools should be accountable to parents and tax payers in the district and not to the State or the DoEd.
