Team Keesler, Various base functions at Keesler will be impacted in different ways by the recent government shutdown. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this challenge. Keesler Medical Center: ▪ Services remain open with slowing in some areas. Military and civilian personnel offices: ▪Degraded passport support services through military personnel section. ▪Civilian personnel office will be closed. Education office: ▪ Delay in all Tuition Assistance requests not submitted by Sept. 30. ▪ DANTES and CLEP testing through the National Test Center will still be available, but at the cost of the member. ▪ Updates to Defense Language Proficiency Test and Defense Language Aptitude Battery scores unavailable. Youth programs: ▪Suspension of youth sports program. ▪Suspension of Friday night fun. ▪Suspension of youth instructional classes. ▪Suspension of give parents a break and parent’s night out at child development center and youth center. ▪Youth center open recreation program will close at 6 p.m. daily. ▪NOTE: Youth and CDC will continue to provide normal care. Civilian employees that are affected by furlough may elect to suspend use of the CDC and youth center without charge. Civilian employees must provide copy of furlough letter to the CDC or youth center and express their intent to not use services to receive refund or suspension of charges. If a member decides to suspend use of the CDC or youth center during the shutdown period, their child will not be dropped from the roster. Airman and family readiness center: ▪ Limited A&FRC services: - Suspension of employment assistance. - Cancellation of all workshops and classes. - Suspension of transition and retirement assistance services. - Suspension of school liaison services. - Suspension of financial counseling services. ▪ NOTE: Air Force Aid, deployment preparedness and relocation assistance will continue to be available. Public Affairs: ▪ Multimedia services have been suspended. This includes any graphic support, video requests, Commander Access Channel updates, studio and passport photography, and self-help check-out equipment. Communications: ▪ Significantly reduced response times on all telephone and computer trouble tickets. Commissary and exchange: ▪ Commissary open today until 7 p.m., but will be closed starting Oct. 2 and until further notice. ▪ Exchange open for regular hours. While base services will be impacted as a result of the shutdown, we expect all base services to return to normal operations once this shutdown has ended.
