Tearfully and with a heavy heart, tonight I am mourning the passing of a soul sister, Meraki Magiks aka Jacqueline Branson. She blessed me with her friendship, blessed my band with her violin contributions at live shows, graced my Bands & Bellies stages with her own bands music as well as jamming with Deep Stirrings, participated in OCs HyRev arts collective, entertained the guests at Gemini Manor, studied Swing and Tango at my classes, helped cultivate the flow arts/fire dancer community in OC, touched and inspired countless people from around the world with her immense talent and every-day kindness and love, taught her students about music, taught those who could appreciate her example about how to embrace adventure and spontaneity, used her healing gifts as often as possible, brought a sweet souled and clever little boy into the world, contributed gorgeous and captivating art to this world with her painting/modeling/singing/playing musical instruments...the world was much richer with her in it. My life was enriched both by knowing her as a truly beautiful person, and as a magnificent artist. To those who knew and see Meraki for who she is, may we honour her spirit by living in some of the ways that she did...by being brave when scared, loving without the guarantee of reciprocation, adventurous when there are unknowns, healing others when the opportunity arises, sharing our gifts with those who would appreciate or learn from them, developing and nurturing the various sides of our eclectic selves, and being as present as possible wherever we are. My friend amazed me with her wisdom, power, and love. Saying goodbye is too painful and makes no sense, so for now Ill contemplate the infinite beauty of a girl I was privileged to know and collaborate with for the past few years...my friend Meraki. merakimagiks/
