Teddys Lullaby Catnip and treats sprinkled about in the pet - TopicsExpress

Teddys Lullaby Catnip and treats sprinkled about in the pet carrier didnt fool Teddy for one second. Hes too smart of a country boy to be hoodwinked into just waltzing into a crate. So, mom got him in there, butt first -- with the carrier in full vertical stance. Once in the car, with great zeal, he meowed his protests about the whole situation. I did my best to comfort him with scratches and rubs through the door grate. Repeatedly telling him what a good boy he was. He wasnt buying it. He got so upset he actually nipped my finger tip with an impassioned love bite. Being that Teddy has never bitten me before, he got a small scolding. He looked so disappointed when he realized he had displeased me. He quieted down for 10 minutes or so but then began to emphatically state his protest of his confinement and the bumpy road. His plaintiff meows tugged at my heart. We were barely halfway to the vets office. We had at least 20 or so more minutes to go. Gently talking with him still wasnt working, and then an old reflex of self-soothing happened ... I started sing. And the gentle song that came from my heart for him was an utter surprise. It soothed us both. Love me tender, love me true Love my Teddy-Boo Love me tender through the night And all will be alright. Love me tender, Love me true, Love my Teddy-Boo Your love shines so bright within my heart Each day with you it starts. Teddy nuzzled his head against my fingers through the door-grate while I kept singing the song, over and over again. He relaxed, totally. He didnt utter one more meow until the car stopped in the vets parking lot. Elvis was in the car!
