Telangana to set up eight lakh acre land bank Hyderabad: Telangana state government is on the verge of transferring over 8 lakh acres to the newly-created Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) for a “land bank” to lure investors into setting up industries in the new state. The government has divided the land into three categories. The first category will include land parcel of 3,000 acres on the city outskirts which will be allotted on a priority-basis to firms with reputed track records at national and international-level. The government on its part will take all approvals in advance, such as pollution, environment, ground water, electricity, municipal and industrial approvals, to ensure that investors can start the project at the earliest without any delay in securing approvals. This land bank will have all infrastructure facilities like roads, drainage system, electricity, water etc. This land bank will have road, rail and air connectivity on the city outskirts. The second and third category land banks will also comprise of nearly 3,000 acres each but will be located in districts surrounding Hyderabad such as Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Medak. Manufacturing zones will be planned in the second category land bank with special focus on automobile and auxiliary units in Medak district. The third category land bank will have comparatively small parcels of land suitable for corporate firms engaged in banking and financial services, IT, IT-enabled services, which do not require thousands of acres like industries. Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed officials of industries department to upload the details of these lands banks on the department’s website to enable investors anywhere in the world to access the information and approach the government with investment proposals. He asked officials to provide the facility of submitting application online for investors after identifying suitable location and all such applications have to be forwarded to ‘special chasing cell’ to be set up in the CMO.
