Tell me something good!! There are people that we go to regularly when we are in need of some information. This is how community is built. Some have expertise in a particular area while others are strong in other areas. We wouldn’t go to a mechanic for our annual dental check-up, so why when it comes to things that are larger than our understanding spiritually, do we not go to the King of all Kings? Here in lies the rub. We cannot think of ourselves more highly than we ought to, because we are not that good, not without God. James says that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask God who gives it without reservation. If we doubt however, we should not expect anything. Trust then, is the key to wisdom from God. If we are to request from God wisdom, we must first believe that He can grant us the very wisdom that we are asking for. Solomon realized that riches were not what was necessary to lead the people of Israel, so in His request of God, Solomon asked for wisdom. God granted Him both riches and wisdom. Let us get what is important together. Look at what priorities are ahead of wisdom. Ask God to grant you the wisdom to know the difference between what you can and cannot do.
