Term of the Day -- Like for Like sales: Sales figures for a company that compare sales from two time periods, but strip out effects of growth, expansion, or something else that would artificially inflate sales. For example, a retailer may report that same store sales, excluding new stores, were up 2.1% from the same quarter last year. Positive like for like is good. Critics argue that the measurement is meaningless because it does not take into account everything across the company (Source, Investopedia).
