Terrorism doesnt work in Australia. Why? Because of that long (but never lost) Australian tradition of apathy. We simply dont care about your cause. We have no interest in your agenda. And we couldnt give a rats about your politics. If you treat Australians according to the Australian way of life then you will be our mates for life. But if you try to shovel your issues down our throats, we wont hate you; we wont become your enemy; nor will we pick a fight with you. We will simply turn our backs and ignore you. Which is why you feel like you have been shouting at the rain for so long. Were simply not listening to you. Australians have the gift of being able to tune out, change the channel, or walk away when you demand that we listen to you and join your cause. But there lies the problem. It is YOUR cause; YOUR fight. We simply dont care about it. And the harder you try to make it our problem, the easier it becomes for us to ignore you. Australia has relegated terrorists agendas to the bottom of the In-tray. Which is a lot closer to the rubbish bin than it is to the Out-tray. Tonight, Australians arent glued to the television watching your terror unfold. Nor are we sitting in our lounge chairs contemplating your plight. We are however feeling concern for the safety of our mates you hold against their will. And most of all we are laughing at you. Laughing at how you wasted your final moments as a FREE Australian citizen just to make us less interested in whatever it is you are shovelling.
