Terry: Early settlers Nine matches into the season, and with the Blues top of the Barclays Premier League and our Champions League group, John Terry has praised the impact made by two of his new team- mates. Both Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa moved to Stamford Bridge from La Liga over the summer, and their performances during the early part of the campaign have been a big factor in the side’s impressive start. Terry has been delighted with the way in which both players have adapted to their new surroundings. ‘Cesc has been here [playing in England] before so he knew what to expect, and he’s hit the ground running,’ said the skipper. ‘With Diego, strikers can take months and months [to adapt] but he’s scored eight goals already, which is superb, that’s great for us. ‘He’s a great character, without speaking a word of English he gets by and gets on great with everyone. He’s come to the Premier League to win, he made that clear in pre-season.’ The captain has played in all but one of our games so far this season, missing only the Capital One Cup victory over Bolton Wanderers. On Tuesday, he became only the sixth Englishman to reach 100 Champions League appearances, and his desire to achieve success, in all competitions, remains as strong as ever. ‘I just want to win trophies; that’s what I was born to do, it’s been in me since I was a kid,’ he said. ‘I was in tears behind closed doors at us throwing away the Premier League last season and not winning it. It’s emotional, that’s what I play for week in, week out and I’m never afraid to show my emotions.’
