Terry and Danny Jones: Back in the early nineteen fifties, - TopicsExpress

Terry and Danny Jones: Back in the early nineteen fifties, possibly in 1953, a severe winter storm passed through Winn Parish. To a thirteen year old, there seemed to be at least five to six inches of snow on the ground. The resulting white landscape was just beautiful. Luckily I had a new roll of black and white film with twelve exposures and was able to capture some of the winter scenes on film. One of the better exposures is of the Grover and Hallie Jones Temple home place. The Temples are my grandparents. The house was located on the east side of Highway 505 about half way between the houses of Arthur Chandler and Durwood Jones. I have often wished that my film had been color film. In the early nineteen eighties, I decided to make a painting of the Temple home place using that old black and white photograph as my model. The attached photograph is a reproduction of that painting. I feel that my amateurish painting adequately captures the essence of that beautiful winter day in the Police Jury’s Ward 4 back in the early nineteen fifties. I hope you enjoy. Thomas L. Jones
