"Our main objective is we wanted to calibrate the standard of quality of products they produce...We will come out with standards based on international ones," he said. Aure said they will also assist companies especially the small ones to improve production capacity in order to meet product demand. "The operation of the laboratory for food products is under the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) shared services facility (SSF) which is about P5 million worth of equipment for the food laboratory," said Emma Mijares, deputy executive director at Export Development Council (EDC). Mijares said 4C Cavite is the second PHILEXPORT Chapter that has been given such a fund after General Santos City. Under the MOA, the association will work closely with NSCT in the development and implementation of the SSF project. They will work for the finalization of the details concerning lease of the equipment until the project is undertaken. The PHILEXPORT Chapter will monitor the overall project implementation. It will provide financial, material and labor resources for the setting-up of the project. The group will likewise prepare manuals, technical specifications, forms and reports for the issuance of laboratory results. NSCT, on the other hand, will provide and prepare the proposed location of food testing laboratory inside its campus. It will also operate, maintain and ensure safekeeping of the tools, machines and equipment in the facility. -- Danielle Venz, PHILEXPORT News and Features
