Tevis and I are proud to join the Cape Cod Canal Centennial Committee in celebrating today’s 100th Anniversary. Many people have put a great deal of work into making the Centennial a memorable occasion, a worthy commemoration of the Canal and its place in our local, state and national history. The Canal has come to symbolize the nautical traditions that characterize the Ninth Congressional District, as well as the technological innovations and natural beauty that continue to make the Ninth District a great place to live, work and visit. We also wish to honor the men and women who built the canal and the bridges that cross it; their hard work has created a legacy of economic activity that benefits all of us every day. We happily join with the members of the Committee, all the hard-working volunteers who made today possible, the Army Corps of Engineers, and all the residents and visitors marking this occasion in wishing a Happy 100th birthday to the Cape Cod Canal!
