Thailand Steps Forward For 2015 Moto GP Will it Replace Indy On MotoGP Schedule? Most MotoGP team bosses point to Southeast Asia as a target for new races, as motorcycle sales are strong and top MotoGP riders are rock stars in that corner of the planet. A new track in Thailand may become the second Southeast Asian venue on the MotoGP calendar, joining Sepang in Malaysia as early as 2015. Representatives of a new track called the Buriram International Circuit, located approximately 250 miles north of Bangkok, recently met with Dorna boss Carmelo Ezpeleta for talks at Mugello. The new circuit is under construction and was designed by Hermann Tilke, the pet architect of Formula One czar Bernie Ecclestone. Tilke has created some very dull, sanitized circuits in the last decade, but his computer screen also has produced such exciting layouts such as Sepang, Istanbul Park and the new Circuit of the Americas in Austin. Ezpeleta confirmed the track will be done in time for a possible slot on the 2015 schedule. Both Ezpeleta and team bosses have criticized the concentration of MotoGP races this season in Spain, the United States and Italy, with nine of the 18 races on the scheduled taking place in just three nations.
