Thank God today is over. Pet scan showed cancer in the area between his lungs(lymph nodes) up to his throat, a spot in his left lung along with the original cancer in his right lung, a spot in his liver along with the 5 spots in his brain. Dr. Swalec wasnt very hopeful and originally estimated a year but talked about a gene that if mutated would be treatable with a pill which could help shrink the spots in his lungs and lymph nodes. Our appointment with Dr. Pita confirmed that Ben is a candidate for this treatment which is known to work anywhere from 6 months to 3 years . After that its rounds of chemotherapy . The brain will be treated with radiation but the priority now is his chest so he will be able to stop using oxygen. Hes told the doctors hes going to fight and he intends to beat the odds.
